Beyond the Box: Introduction to Packaging Design

University: Srishti Institute

Faculty:      Visual Comm. Design

Level:          Semester V, Under Graduate

Year:           2019

The workshop was based along the International Packaging Design Student competition — ASPac 2019. The theme was ‘Inspire’ for the competition, where students have chosen to select regional products & brands from India such as Tea Powder, Nature Inspired Packaging for Organic use and throw plates, papadams, incense sticks on and so forth. Students have researched on types of packaging, developed branding concepts later resulting in prototype versions of their final idea.  Students have comprehended the connection between packaging design and branding, aspects of packing design such as shelf value, how it attracts, excites, informs and motivates customers to purchase a product.  By the end of the workshop, students have learned to use their creativity, imagination in proposing innovative packaging design solutions that were not only expressive and visually unique in their approach but also viable, functional in the context of branding, retail space, costing, transport and sustainability issues.   Co-faculty for the workshop: Samia Singh
